Term Definition
Advice A transaction message indicating that a transaction must either be finalised or reversed.
Aggregator An entity that supplies financial products or services to retailers. The products or services themselves are issued by multiple third-party suppliers, but the aggregator provides a single platform into which a retailer can connect in order for these to be accessed.
Confirmation Advice message indicating that a transaction has been finalised.
Downstream Transaction flow in the direction toward POS.
Issuer Entity that issues tokens for prepaid utilities.
POS Point-of-sale. The platform at which a retail transaction is conducted between customer and merchant.
PPE Prepaid electricity.
Provider The entity which supplies the requested financial product or service. This is not necessarily the actual issuer of the product or service, but could be an aggregator.
Reversal Advice message indicating that a transaction must be reversed.
Upstream Transaction flow in the direction away from POS.
Utility A type of service, such as electricity, water or gas supplied to a household or commercial premises. Also the term given to an entity which provides such services.
